Tai Chi

Tai Chi is an internal practice of Chinese martial arts, commonly described as a “movement meditation.” Tai Chi artists perform a series of postures or movements with a unique slow and continuous quality. The sensitivity and balanced flow of movement derives from the embodiment of changes between yin and yang.

Ilona Bito and James McConnell teach Yang style short form 60 movements, sword form, and push hands, as taught by Grandmaster William CC Chen. In class, it is not the completion of the form or the number of movements that we focus on, but the Body Mechanics which can unlock the many physical and mental benefits of Tai Chi.

Ilona Bito and James McConnell are both Certified Instructors with William C.C. Chen Tai Chi Chuan in NYC.

Past + Current Students:

“Ilona is a fantastic instructor, a professional expert in tai chi and dance. She took my tai chi skills to a higher level as she gently and patiently showed me how to correct and improve my stance, breathing, movement and energy. She uses analogies that are easy to remember and instructs at an appropriate pace for her students. With great enthusiasm I recommend her for students of all ages and levels.”
